Default Polaris Radiator Flush

When I picked up the stuff for maintance on my 05 Sportsman today, I was going to get new coolant for the radiator. My dealer said that if I was going to flush the whole system, just get some good anti freeze and use a 50/50 mix. I was wondering if the new pink stuff that is already mixed will work well in my atv? Do I need to pick up the old green stuff instead? What does everyone else use.

the polaris brand is 60/40 which is recommend, and the gren stuff is a 50/50 mix. if your not going to use the polaris brand, then reg. old pestone or something like that will work. i havent heard of anyone using the red envoimental friendly stuff yet. but i suppose as long as flush out the green it shouldnt matter. just make sure you get all the air purged out of it or you may have overheating issues w/ air bulbs. just my thoughts.

As long as you are going to be flushing the radiator would be a good time to take it out & give it a good fin cleaning especially if you have been in mud and with a sportsman am betting you have. ;D

LOL upnort you are right on. I always clean my radiator after every ride. I might go ahead and pull it, just to make sure I get every nook and cranny. I can hold a flash light behind it and see through it as it is now. Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure I dont mess anything up. The Polaris radiator stuff is about $20.00 a quart, and takes about 4 quarts to fill it. Thats why my dealer said to using something else if I was going to flush it.

Just an 05 500 Ho. Thats just a number my dealer said, as I have never flushed one before. Besides, he was just saving me some money.

Even though it looks clean mud gets caked in there especially against the fan shroud in back. My dealer only charged me 3$ a quart and used almost 3 when I ran a conceled steel post through mine... twice and into the fan. When I would top mine off though I just used prestone 50/50 that I have on hand.

James I see you are from WV, familiar with the H/M trails? Thinkin of a trip down this summer for a belated honeymoon?

If you come down to ride the H/M, do your research on what type of ride you want, so you will know which trail head to start from. They have a little bit of everything the state has to offer. If you are bringing your family down, or just looking for a quiet getaway, you will have a great time. I will be sure to check out behind my fan shroud. It will be after the weekend before I start on it. Its my weekend to work, so no fun for me
