Hi: Lookin to see how someone else has did there tank or pipe to keep it from melting the tank.
I put the hpd race pipe on my wifes 400, her machine is mod to the bone. Big bore, ported head, bored carb, milled head run race gas, ect.
When I put the race pipe on I thought there would be no problems with the pipe melting the tank, it was close but not touching. I also had this pipe jet-hot coated $160.00.
But during the ride the pipe must of shifted a little and rub on the tank and burn a hole in it.
Lucky the machine did'nt burn up, scared the wife real bad, she says I'm trying to kill her with all the mods done to this machine.
Just thought I would see what some of you do to fix this melting problem.
Aluminum tank maybe not sure, HELP thanks also.
