Default Radiator????

We have a 2001, 500 polaris scrambler. The other day a friend was riding it around in a field a took it through some mud Afterward when I would start the engine the radiator would start steaming but as far as we could see it wasn't leaking...When I started it that night it seemed ok but I only let it run a minute or so...Any ideas on why the radiator would have been steaming when the engine ran???? Also...the plastic has faded from red to a pinkish color but it still in perfect condition so I don't want to replace it...Is there like plastic dyes or a special paint or something that can be used to get it back red???? Thanks!!! Tyanna

The steam is probably just water evaporating off. The coolant runs at 200F and water boils at 212F so it's pretty hot. Just make sure the rad isn't plugged after you ride in mud.

like scammy said jsut water cooking off. just for peace of mind keep an eye on the res. tank to see if it goes down to nothing. then you'll know you got a leak. oh btw maybe its time to clean that rad as well if its been thru alot of mud so it doensnt overheat. just a thought.
