Default Carburetor rubbing and leaking

Hi, I notice my carb was leaking today, when I removed it I notice the big screw/bolt on the bottom of the carb was rubbing and there is a pin hole.

What would cause it to rub? is there a way to fix the screw or just order a new one?

96 Xplorer 400L

THANKS for any help in advance!

Sbishop

Try to see what it was rubbing on and move it to another location. As for the drain bolt, maybe try to braze, or 2 part epoxy??

Default Carburetor rubbing and leaking

I just fixed the exact same thing on my 1999 400 explorer. It rubs on the rubber block. I think it just wears out over time from sand and gravel getting up there. I used J B weld to build the bolt back up and it worked great.

The mainjet access plug (17mm) is supposed to rub that block , the block was added to the 400's back in 1996 or so . The rubber block keeps the carburetor from vibrating to much and foaming the fuel in the floatbowl. The old 1994 and 1995 models would get an odd harmonic vibration going on deceleration and foam the fuel in the bowl and actually almost cause the quad to die. The rubber block fixed the problem .

Just head on down to the polaris shop and get a new acess plug and go again , or call me , I have a bunch of them sitting around used and in good condition .
