Here's a link to the RAM gps handle bar mount...http://www.cycoactive.com/gps/gps_mounts_ram.html
I have this mount with a H2O C, good unit, accurate, accepts chips and Waterproof. The RAM mount is great and you can buy the cradle for most newer gps units.

I have a Magellan Meridian. Great unit. Its waterproof also. You can get them on ebay for a great price. In my opinion they are just as good a Garmin. I have a Garmin in my vehicle and both do very well.

I have a Lowrance globalmap 100 for many years. Its older but works great. I have gone out through different deep woods sections with it in my riding jacket pocket and it still receives. I use it with Delorme topo maps. I can download the tracks from the unit to the delorme.
I use it most just as a receiver plugged into my laptop to use with Delorme Street Atlas while driving.
If it broke I would look at some of the new Garman stuff. My buddy has a garman with a map on his street bike that even talks directions to him.
But if you only want it to throw on the dash to work with Delorme maps, Delorme sells a small one that is pretty inexpensive, but it don't have any kind of screen on it.

I've had garmin GPS's for about 13years starting with a GPS12 and moved up to the GPSII, GPSIII and now the GPSIII+. I never had any problems with any of them just wanted to upgrade. The only issue I ever had was, I left the sealed battery compartment open and filled the unit with water while on my SeaDoo. I was out of warranty but still sent it to Gamin to see if they could fix it. About six weeks later I received a brand new one no charge. I even called them back to see if they made a mistake (being honest) and they said to enjoy the new GPS and think about them in the future. I still have the GPS12 and it works as good as it did the day I got it. I did have a friend who threw his Magellen into a canyon because he couldn't get it to work right.
