Default Installing Rear Rack extender

I just bought a new rear rack extender for my 06' Sportsman and I'm not sure do i have to take off the whole rack to install it?

yes you do if its the same as my 06 800. you cant put the front bolts on w/out taking it off.

Or you could drill 2 holes in the rear fenders. I thought about it, but pulled my rack off instead.
