Default love the headlihgt mod...thx!

thanks to this forum i found the 3 light headlight mod. i installed it on both my sportsmans. did a forty mile night ride last night, and was really happy with the increased visibility. the total cost including shipping was 24 bucks. for 2 bikes (not counting the soldering iron i had to buy) so if you ride alot at night like me i recommend the 3 light mod

Oink -

Where did you get them, what is their
web site address? Also, I didn't know
you had to solder it, I thought the latest
mods were a snap in on those?

R a lot of people use Scotchlock connectors. They are very easy to use but not really waterproof. I've seen people use a dab of silicone to seal them, but personally every connection I've put on my bike is soldered and heat shrunk to keep moisture out.

Do you have pics on yours? Does it come with assembly instructions?
Diagrams and such? I have only soldered very little, and as for as
the heat shrink, what and where do you get that stuff? Its not hot glue
w/gun?

what kind of amps do you need pushing out to run those lights,i have the cat which has 2 headlights but more light the better, I see people put the double lights for , i thought they were for plowing because they sit high and are attached to the rack. I thought i read before about the 400 cats dont have a high amp rating, please let me know if anyone knows. The wife has a 96 425 mag we just got for her and that has the 3 lights is that stock for that kind and year

Sorry R I don't have any pics. There are two ways for the mod. One with a diode, and one with a relay. The diode mod is the easier and cheaper way, and thats the one you will find most commanly on ebay. And thats what I have, but I had a diode and wired it in the first day I had my bike with no problems yet. It is a very easy mod with either the diode or relay, but wiring in a relay invloves splicing into 4 wires instead of 2. If you send me a PM saying your interested I could e-mail you some diagrams and instructions. I also have reverse override and auto reverse light mod diagrams too.

from quadavator.com the headlight mod comes with quick connect connectors..no wires to cut or splice. i thought the connectors seemed kinda mickey mouse..also they recomend you solder connection for best results

I sent you a PM. Does the other mods (reverse override, etc.)
require the soldering stuff too, if so I may want to gather all
the info and when I get the small elec. parts then get for
all.
