Default How deep and how bad?

Thanks alot for the info guys!! It really helps out alot. I will have to try and keep the front end up next time and try and carry a little more speed when I go through it. Oh and one more thing, after I got pulled out I went back through it the other way and made it no problem. I went through it a few more times and noticed my belt slipping. Is there any way to make sure water doesn't get into the CVT besides the obvious of staying out of water?

I don't think it died from am air issue.........I think it died from water mixed with a part of your electrical system and that made it stall.....Try this....With your quad running in the yard....Take a spray bottle and spray all the wiring, include the spark-plug wires coil,etc......See what happens at home before you hit the trails again!!!...Caper.........

you probally hit the water to fast and water got into your carb vent tubes and then made it die or you sucked in water thru the intake.

I was going through the "pit" and like I said I was going good, then all of a suddun it acted like it wasn't getting enough air, and the RPMS kept getting lower and lower till she finally died. I was trying like hell not to let it die, but it did. I didn't think the water in the exhaust was going to hurt it, but I am still baffled to why it would have died like it did.
Next time it starts "starving", remove the seat. I bet it will clean up and be powerful again. What is happening is the steam is building up under the front plastic and being sucked into the intake. Mine did this too, until I slit the front cab plastic on both sides of the intake, then heated the plastic and bent the 3 1/2" piece up and towards the tank. This allows the air to be sucked in between the seat and tank, instead of from "under" the plastic. Now mine screams no matter what I am in.

first of all, you want to check your oil to make sure theres no water in it. i thrw mine in netrual and kept the rpms up so it wouldnt stall at first. then i turned it off when i knew i was going to be there a few minutes while waiting to be pulled. the water in the exhaust can be just as bad as inthe air box if it goes in thru the valves. their again mine is an efi whether that made any differnce.

Yeah mine is an EFI too. I checked the oil and it doesn't look like it is milky though. I might be better off to just change it anyways just to be sure. I am not to sure what you are talking about when you say you slit the 3 1/2" piece and heated it up so it vents from the sides? Mine (I am sure others vent this way too) vents from up by the gas tank. If I would install the 800 intake would that make it any better for breathing in a situation like this? Oh and one more thing, on my front rack lid, the left side lock doesn;t want to stay locked. Is there a way to tighten that up so it stays closed while riding on a rougher field?
