Default High Voltage on '04 SP400

Hello everyone,

I'm in need of a little help with my 2004 SP400. What is happening is that while I am at an idle it will put out the regular 12.8-13.5 volts measured at the battery with a multimeter. However when the rpms increase the voltage will also increase up to around 18 volts at 5000 rpm. I can however run the machine with the lights on and the voltage never rises above 14.5 volts.
What I have done to try to fix this problem is replace the SurePower Module (parts guy suggestion) but that did not change anything.
I thought it may be the voltage regulator (load shed module??) but connot find this part on my machine for the life of me. The only peices I see up front is the SurePower and the CDI box. I have checked all around the radiater and front area but connot find this part.

Any Help or Suggestions would be greatly apprieciated, Thank You in advance.
