I am in the market for a new quad and the trail boss attracted me because of its low cost and good features. I heard that the trail boss could only go 35 mph and that it was a gas guzzler from one source, and that it could reach 45-47 mph from another source. Will someone please straighten out my facts and tell me the pros and cons of the trail boss 325. Also how does the trail boss compare to the honda recon and the trail blazer? thanks again!

I have a trailboss......it has a top speed between 45-47, i love it all except that it is a little doggy becuz of its utility type gearing, it has a fast exceleration but a low top end. Another turnoff of the trailboss is the 4 wheel brakes!....4 wheel brakes suck in the snow, becuz when you put on the brakes the front almost always locks up and you lose all stearing power.....however this machine is a dream to drive in soft dirt and light mud. And it does have suprising hill climbing abilities!!!!

Mine also does around 45 to 50 mph. I've verified the speed with a GPS on an open dirt road so I know it's accurate. I haven't played in the snow yet on it but a friend of mine has one too and he said that the brakes do get wet and it makes for difficult stopping. I've had the thing in mud over the foot rests with no problems. The gas milage is good, about 40 miles to the gallon. I just opened a Warn 2000 winch for Xmas this morning, I can't wait to install it.

Polaris00

I bought my wife a trail boss 325 in April. It will run about 45-47 mph and gets pretty good gas mileage. Not a barn burner, but I will state for a fact that it will outrun a recon. My buddy has a 2000 recon and I have beat him in drag races. He didn't like that so he gave the recon to his wife and bought a 2001 Scrambler 500. Now he beats me pretty bad. The Recon is also pretty good machines for the money. His only complaints with the recon is it is not terribly fast and the suspension is a little stiff. He also was having trouble bottoming out the suspension on it. I have never rode a trail blazer, so I won't comment on that machine. As for the trail boss, it has been a good machine for the money. There is definitly room for improvement on it, but for the price, it is a great machine. Ride all three and buy the one that fits your needs best.
