K&N Air Filter kit ready to go
All -
After upteen posts and reading
all your performance/mods
threads I thought I would make
the plunge, started out small.
Just got my K&N Air Filter with
Pre-charger slip cover.
Question, the spray oil and cleaner
kit I bought, how much oil do I spray
on the filter? I seen peoples remarks
about not making it too rich and what
not, how would I know? I did see some
notes on the box that the Pre-charger
slip cover needs to be dry, TRUE or NOT?
Whad'yall doing? Thanks in advance for your
input!

The filter should have came with some instructions for cleaning and oiling it.
If not, spray the cleaner on the air filter. Soak it 5-10 minutes to disolve everything, wash and backflush with a low pressure garden hose, if you need to use a stiff bristle brush for removing hard dirt. Spray the oil on until it covers the air filter(should be either red or pink after you spray it) if you see any white spots re oil them. lkk

K&N's come pre-oiled. As far as re-oiling, you spray each pleat of the filter with a stream of oil and let it soak into the filter for a few minutes. Then go over any white spots to make sure you've oiled it completely. The oil has a pink die to it so you can see where it is and where it isn't. Good luck.

Okay now that I have this K&N,
what about total air flow IN with
air flow OUT? What exhaust pipes
do you recommend running on
the Sportsman for most gain?
(Dynojet, Whit Bros.?)
I want to curve the loudness, but
would have to gain with the K&N
for me to consider buying one.
Thanks for all the good info.
everyone!
