Default Magnum 425 rough low end

I got myself a sick magnum, starts up on first crank, ( in the warm weather anyway) idles halfway decent, little hickup now and then, I think its related to my problem. At steady throttle until about 20mph it gets the hickups and seems like a misfire, has about 2300 miles, never been in mud, dirt trails only. I put in a new air filter and the plugs are always black not long after changing them. After about 20mph you hit the throttle and hang on, it goes real good. Tried to find the fuel filter, which should be in-line if I'm not mistaken but yet I could not find it.
(uhh ohh). Am I right in thinking probably the carb needs a cleaning and the fuel filter needs replacing. Geez you would think with the golden gasoline now-a-days everything should be clean. haha. The wheeler has never set for a long period of time. Thanks for the help.

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!

First thing I would do is set the valves @.006 and inspect the cam lobes real good for wear.If this is ok take the carb apart and clean the pilot jet(all the side holes and the main hole need to be clear) the while you have the carb apart replace the needle valve and tube along with replacing the inlet needle and seat. This should clear up your problem and I am sure it wont hurt anything.
If it doesnt clear up the only other thing is the rev limiter. These can cause all sorts of funny things to happen.

haha, yea that rev limiter is disconnected. It was making the wheeler stall when it was put into reverse. Geez who needs a rev limiter anyway, go as fast in reverse as forward, haha
