Default 2007 Polaris Hawkeye Opinions?

I've got about 230 miles on mine. I have had zero problems with it.

I also followed sheepdog's advice as I had been looking at Swamp Fox tires too. I went with the 23's. The stock tires do suck in sand, but they worked fine for me in mud....that is until I buried the frame in it.

Would I buy another one? In a heartbeat.

I put a set of steel Cycle Country guards on the front, can't seem to find any for the rear. If you go with the fronts from Cycle Country, be prepared to have to modify them to clear the bolts the attach the brakelines to the calipers, and the inner lip on the front to clear the frame when the suspension is fully compressed. Also the rear needs to be cut to clear the tierod ends. It isn't too big of a deal, I just used a die grinder with a cutoff wheel.

You can install the 06 cv guards on the 07, holes are in the A arms for the mounting screws. I installed the seat latch from the 06 also, I'm a little leary of those rubber grommets over time holding that 300+ dollar seat in place while trailering down the highway.....

I just ordered an '07 limited edition Hawkeye for my wife (she loves the glossy metalic red paint). The LE has maxis radial tires on it. I wonder if they are better than the standard tires? I ride a 700 FI Grizzly, and after having IRS on it, I wanted IRS for my wife too. The Hawkeye is really the only full featured entry level machine out there. Polaris hit a home run with the Hawkeye.

The PXT's on the LE are way better than the standard Maxxis, you will be very pleased with the ride I believe....

I was going to get a 2006 Sp 450 for me and a 2006 Hawkeye for the wife .......I got two sportsman 450.
Glad I did My wife is very small Also About 110 lbs. She loves it......Plus the price differance was not too much here in Canada..........I glad I stayed away from the 2006 model anyway ........Caper.........
Big differance from the Hawkeye up to the Sportsman 450.......

How much price differance is there between the two in the U.S.A. right now???Thanks.....

The Sportsman 450 lists for US $6299 and the Hawkeye 300 4X4 LE was $4700 at my dealer. I was afraid my wife would be intimidated by a larger ATV. Additionally she loves the looks of the LE with the alloy wheels and metalic red paint. Other considerations were the light steering effort and long travel IRS. No other manufacturer comes close to these features on an entry level ATV. It performs better than most full size machines. Thing's video he posted linkis proof of that. Polaris really did their homework on this one.

If she can steer a 550 Polaris RMK sled she should have no trouble at all with the Sportsman 450!!..............Good luck with your choice........Caper......
