Default Hawkeye questions.

How is does the hawkeye do on hill climbs and low speeds with out the low gear option? Kinda like going over rocks and logs. I read something about the clutches redesigned for this bike what is different. Also how would it compare to the prairie 360?

Other than when it sank into some soft sand, the stock tires being part of the problem, I have yet to find anyplace the Hawkeye won't go. Mud, sand, hills, creekbeds, you name it. I have since mounted up a set of Swamp Fox tires though.

I read that Polaris did something different with the clutches, what I don't know. I've never ridden a Prairie 360 so I can't compare the two. I don't have too much experience seeing that my Hawkeye is my first ATV, but IMO the Hawkeye is one heck of a deal for what all it comes with.

Hawkeye goes anywhere. The concept of low & high range is irrelevant in this design.

I don't know anything about the Kawi.

The Hawkeye does great at low speeds. I can crawl up steep hills and chug through mud and sand at 3 mph all day long. The low range seems to be built in, way different than the Sportsman with a selectable low range.

The stock tires are crap, I'd suggest 23" Swamp Fox tires as a cheap upgrade. I have the 24" and they are slightly large for my preference.

Exactly what I did.

BTW, my Polaris dealer said that if Polaris states no bigger than 23" tires, since that is the biggest they sell for the Hawkeye you'd better not go larger. If you break parts he said Polaris will not cover it. His example was a Sportsman, which I guess 26" is what is the largest recommended. A guy put 27's on it, and broke cv joints, or axles.. can't remember which. Polaris said, "your problem, we said 26" is the recommended largest size".

I put 25" mudlites on mine and it has no problem with them. Just my $0.02.
