My buddy found a 2001 500 sportsman that looks like new. The fellow wants 3200 for it. Can any of you tell me if that is a good price, and anything about the machine. My buddy knows nothing about them or anything about the market value.

I told him I would check with the forums and see what you guys had to say.

Alot depends on mileage it has, 500's are a bulletproof engine but clutches can have wear, cv boots, brakes, frt wheel hub maintenance should be checked. Great bike but all these things can add up. Mecanical knowledge won't hurt either.

We just bought a 2002 sp500 so it gives you an idea that we love them.

maintainance is the key to look for on any brand bike as well as the aperance of being beat all to hell. i loved my 02 i had. look at nada book to check for price.
