I wear a full face helmet in the winter with a full face pull down shield. I can't seem to be able to keep it from fogging up. Any tips? I know you can buy after market defoggers, but I havent had much luck with them. Whay can I do?

Thanks,

Dave

Stop breathing....

Just kidding. Have you tried leaving the face shield open about a 1/4"?

I dunno if this works, you definetly want to do a test patch before going to town.. but for car winshields you take a LITTLE bit of shaving cream and rub it all in with a paper towel or something and it works, however you definetly want to test it out and make sure it dosent eat the plastic before you put it on.

Go buy some anti-fog.Most motorcycle shops and opticians have it.

I rode snowmobiles a lot in the early 80s and had the same problem until found a face shield that had the defroster wires built in like the ones on the back window of your car. It ran off the headlight power and had a high and low range. The power cord was like a phone cord and would come unpluged when you had to bail off. It worked great and you would get some moisture on the inside of your shield and no fog or frost. I bought it form a sled shop south of Effingham Il. I let it go when I sold my sled so I can't even tell you who made it. Might try one of the snowmobile pages.

You have to crack it open every now and
then. Unless that anti-fog stuff works.
But it don't for me. My fog aint bad
though, I use a snowmobile helmet. Maybe
you need one of those?

HORider,

If your helmet is a snowmobile helmet then get a heated visor they work great (They run about $ 69.95 to 89.95 depending on the company). You can also get breath deflectors for most of the popular helmets.

I have been using Zwax on my goggles and it really helps from fogging up. I got it from www.zooke.com. The little container of it cost about $10 a piece, but you use very little of it. It is actually a lens cleaner that is supposed to prevent fogging. It seems to work on the goggles, but I have not tried it on the snowmobile helment yet (my dad took his snowmobile back ) Hope this helps. Nothing worse than going 60 mph across a field and having the face mask fog up.

P.S. We are heading to North Fairfield tonight to deer hunt for the next few days at my buddies grandpa's. Should be a good time. Later.

To keep the fogging to a minimum always lift the shield when slowing down for a stop then closing it again when you are underway.
