help me with the starter and carb issues I think
#1
I have a 2004 Trail Blazer 250, and I am at a point where I am totally fed up. I want to sell it but right now the carburetor needs replacement I think. The starter does not work but I can't figure how to remove it. I think I have located a carburetor and that should be an easy repalcement. I stalls and sputters and eventually it won't start (floods out). The starter does not work, The pull rope works but I've repaired it too many times. What can I do to get it going with minimal investment, I am very mechanically adept but this thing is totally frustrating.

the carb probably just needs to be rebuilt or a good cleaning, the syarters on the two stroke are notorious for having problems. Its tuff to get too without removeing the clutch covers. You can get it from under neathe the machine, remove the skid plate and you will see it, it is a tight fit but it can be done.

have you tried cleaning the carb yet. 2 strokes are fairly easy to work on. it sounds like maybe the float is stuck and letting too much gas in causing it to flood or maybe the carb is dirty and needs a good cleaning. i mean taken apart totally and gone thru. i think theres 5 bolts that hold the starter on. do a search and you'll see where someone tells how to get it apart. cd?? something or rather was his id. sorry i cant remeber for sure.

I did clean the carb and nothing ever appears wrong. So rebuilding it is another problem I found an aftermarket that looks like it would fit for 79 on line but I need to talk to them on Monday. I now know how to get to the starter thanks to you. I will give that an attempt.I can usually get any small engine problem resolved, but I can't tell you how much non productive work I have done one this thing. My goal now is to get it going and then it's outta here!!! thanks for your help if you have any other thoughts don't hesitate

heres the thing, if its an 04 tb i dont beleave that it should need a carb rebuild as there really isnt anything that would be worn out that fast. hows the float level? you said it starts and sputters and then floods out. is the choke sticking up letting too much fuel in it. just an idear why maybe theres too much fuel. good luck and let us know.
