Default fuel guage not llighting up

my brother in law has an 06 sportsman 500 efi h.o., the fuel guage does not light up oin the cluster at al, some times it will flash really quick - ever since this has
been happening it has also been cutting out intermitently at higher rpm's, suspect some kind of wire chafing issue but not sure, has anyony else ran itno this problem??? Thanks for any info

is the quad still on warrenty? if so take it to the dealer.... if not, it sound to be an electrical problem..... get a repair manual for it and look at the wring diagram to see which wire controls the fuel sensor...

Default fuel guage not llighting up

I had to take my Sp 450 back for the fuel gauge not lighting up. I got it fix N/C when I took it back for the first service. I think they said it was the sending unit.....I forget not sure now!!!.....Does everything else still work on the display?. All work on mine except the fuel read-out.......Caper.......

yup everything works except for the fuel guage, it does flash on and off at times, could it be a chaffed wire grounding out on the frame or does it sound like the sending unit? sounds like the sending unit is common on these?? if the sending unit and fuel pump are all part of the tank this could explane the running issue with it
sputtering at times probally.

if its still in warranty take it back quick as its very pricey to replace that unit.

Mine did the same once. Just after I took it swimming I think LOL I started it up and the fuel gauge was blank, then it showed empty, then slowly went back up to full. It's been fine ever since. Hopefully it doesn't act up ever again LOL
