Default hawkeye problems

my 06 hawkeye runs bad. it is hard to keep running after you cold start it. after you get it warmed up it tends to stutter when accelerating hard. then after letting off the gas after going fast it backfires several times but not very loudly. ive cleaned the filter and replaced the spark plug. any suggestions? please help and let me know what you think.

also my spedometer cuts in and out at random times.
thanks

Probably needs to be rejetted. Most if the early 06 models were jetted very rich and would stumble badly when pinning the throttle. I rejetted mine and it runs great. There is a service bulletin for this problem.

Speedo problem is most likely the sensor in the trans, left rear near the top...

Here is what you need to do. Pull the carb cover off, pull the jet out and see what size jet you're using.

Then go to polarisindustries.com and download the 'latest' manual for your quad, you'll most likely see that the jet they list is a different size jet than what is already in your quad. =) Buy a new jet for like three bucks and it's fixed.

I had to do this on both of my Hawkeyes =)
