Default Advice Needed!!

i have a '06 kodiak 450 with irs. im looking at the 500efi. are the polaris atv's reliable? do they have a high life expectancy if you do regular service? how big of a maintenance issue is the belt? ive heard horror stories that the belt drive is high maintenance because its constantly turning where as on my kodiak it has a clutch. should i keep what i have or trade in for the polaris? thanks....Tim

The Polaris 500 motor is proven very good for them, Been around long time, as for the belt, some quads have the factory belt on them well after 10 years, and many miles, Don't listen to the people that tell you belt drives are no good in the water, I have two 2006 Sportsman 450' s and been in water up to the headlights lots of times and no belt issues with me!!!!!..........Good luck in you search for new quad......Caper...

why are you looking to get rid of the yam. if its a good bike? the 500 is a good bike like caper has said and hes right on the money w/ the belt explantion of how they work. the only thing i would add is that you do or least should use low range while working it hard as it keeps the belt cooler.
