Anyone know where I start looking for an oil leak on a 2005 Sportsman 400? Briefly looked under it and couldn't see much without removing the skid plate. Looks like right in the middle of the ATV.

Anyone have a leak on theirs? Only have 100 hours on it, since it used mostly during hunting season.

The first thing I would do is trace the oil lines from the oil tank. Maybe something came loose or an oil line cracked. It really doesn't mean too much where the oil is dripping from unless you can trace it. Oil can come from anywhere on the engine and will take the path of least resistance on the way down.

 

Oil vent line off of tank mine was cracked. maybe check the drive line seals out of trans and rear

 

you really need to have it clean to trace where it would be coming from. maybe take the skidplate off if you have too. better find it now b4 it gets worse.
