Polaris 350L oil problem???
I was wondering if there is an easy way to tell if the engine is getting oil??? It seems that since I put new oil in the tank that the level hasn't moved or at least think it hasn't moved. I did put a new oil line from the pump to the reed housing and the line is full of oil. I haven't really ran it hard since I put a new piston in b/c I'm not sure if its getting the oil it needs...Any help would be great!!!

If you have smoke you have oil getting to that motor.. too much oil tends to lean out the motor and cause overheating even pistons melting down.. but usually they will foul a plug first before any real damage is done.. Take the oil pump off and mix synthetic 2 stroke oil at 32-40:1 depending on your personal preferances, my motor was cleaner and looked better after a year of 40:1 than it did with the year before running 24-32:1..
Read all the posts and combine them if most everyone is saying pretty much the same thing.. That is probably because it is tried and true method..
Good luck with the 350L they are strong running buggys.. my 91 has a LOT of miles on it and it still stays with the big boys in the timber and will cross anything I feel like crossing.. Premix, get rid of the factory pump, then you know what it is getting and can worry about more important things..

i think you ment to say it richens and not leans out the engine. they dont use much oil. if it wasnt getting any oil it would last very long before it seized on ya.

350L's are 2 strokes, they better be burning some oil.. If not she will sieze.. this is from experience.. when my oil pump quit so did the motor.. oil does not burn as much as it lubricates the bearings rings ect in a 2 stroke. The fuel helps cool it like any motor, so too much oil and you lean it out and it overheats.. Now if it was a 4 stroke you would be right on the money..

In my 30 yrs mechanican on various motors, rich was too much fuel, Lean was not enough fuel, too much oil and you will foul plugs alot and produce a lot of smoke.
not enough oil and you can sieze up the motor from lack of lubrication.. Oil really does not pertain to rich or lean.. only fuel.. Pre mix a good synthethic 2 stroke oil at 40 to 1 and she will run good on that .. when it is really hot out I then to mix 32 to 1 to be on the safe side.. You check around and see what others say.. before making up your mind what you want to do.. My way works well for me.. for you it may not..
