polaris big boss 400 6x6
#1
new to the forum i recently purchased a this bike with a bad engine and am starting to collect parts to rebuild the engine it sucked in a bunch of dust from a broken carb to filter gromet {hose / coupler} dusted the engine snapped the skirts off the piston and they dropped into the bottom end and it all jammed up i removed most of the junk aluminum and got it spinning but we are going to split it and make sure it is all clean new bearings, rod, pin and all.
i wanted to see if there is any thing anyone can suggest for this bike any hop up goodies that would be benificial at this point it will be used primarily for utility work around the farm and occasianal trail rides. i am hearing alot of stuff from friends i just want to build a good reliable bike but heard these 400 6x6s are slightly under powered any suggestions appreciated ---scott

thank and sorry for the somewhat rambeling first post {too many irons in the fire not enough hours in the day} but i am looking for mods/ problems or specific things that should be done to the 400 engine. during and after the rebuild all the good stuff will be installed to make it a solid bike w/ the weisco piston k&n filters etc but since i dont know these bikes personally i am looking for any pointers of what tod an not to do on this specific engine. as you well you some engines just should not have lets say a big bore kit because the bottom engines wont handle it other engines dont perform well with certain pipes any 400 specific information would be appreciated thanks ---scott
