Default has the part changed or what???

hey all, my steering is loose to the point i can lift up on the handle bars and they will give about an 1/8"-1/4". i talked to polaris and they said it was the rubber bushing in there that was prolly bad, so i ordered the bushing from partsland.com. but when i came in the mail, i got a metal looking washer, not a rubber one???? did i order the wrong thing? please look at this site below, i ordered #6. thanks

Looks like you ordered the "bushing" but I thought from when I had my Scrambler apart there was a bearing in there, but I don't see one in that picture

I think what you needed to order was part # 11.

I had the same problem with my 2000 Sportsman 500. The handle bars could be pulled up about 1/4 inch. I found that tightening the castle nut at the bottom of the steering column took care of the problem. After jacking up the front and taking the left front wheel off, I could get to it. Take the cotter pin out and tighten the nut as much as needed. Replace the pin and he problem is solved. There were a couple of washers on the column, but I couldn't see where anything had worn to cause the looseness.
