Default Info Needed - 95 Trail Boss 250 2X4

I have the opportunity to purchase a 95 Trail Boss 250 2x4 really cheap. I know it is older, but it has been garaged and still has the original tires. (A little old lady just drove it to church on Sundays). It reportedly has a full-auto transmission. Can anyone provide advice or tell me more about the ATV. ie: 2 or 4 cycle, air or water cooled, and any particular problems or flaws to look for? All help appreciated. Jim

I just bought a 93 Trail boss last month. It should be 2 cycle with a oil mixer (you do not need to mix the gas) 1 tank for gas and 1 tank for oil. air cooled. My battery was week and the throttle saftey switch did not work because of it, which effected Rev. gear. I bought my for my kids but I would have no problems with riding it.
If it is really cheap and it runs -give it a test run! The full auto is great for kids and most women. This would be a good choice for a first ATV and on a low budget!

Scott: This Trail Boss has a regular gas cap, but it has another cap on the panel in front of the handlebars.... a 2 cycle oil reservoir for injection? I was hoping for 4 cycle, but I'll bet you are right. Thanks, for the input! Jim

Jim that would be correct the front 'cap' is for the oil reservoir. Just check it out see what is sounds like, just the 2 cycle is nosier but you do not have to mix the gas at least. But ask the onwer questions and look it over good. If you have not be around ATV's and have a friend or neighbor that has one, take him(her) along.

If the injector failed, or the oil tank ran dry, is there any indicator to keep from burning up the engine? Jim

Jim, injector failure no indicator that I know of. What the person did that I bought it from put in some mixed gas and oil (it was his aunt's and set for a couple of years) just in case it did not work. It did so it ran rich with oil the first 1/2 tank. But is running fine now. From what I have been told if you fill the oil tank it should be good for 3 to 4 gas fill ups!
