Default Winch questions for 2006 sportsman 800 efi

I looking at putting a winch on soon and have ordered the cutout panel for the winch. The big thing is i want the new cutout panel to fit over the winch just like
the 2007 sportsman deluxe models. what winch can install without any fitting
issues/I know the polaris will fit but is it any good compared to the warn?. The 2nd question is 2500 pound winch big enough or do I need a 3000 pund one?
any info would be helpfull
thanks

I did alot of research and actually got scammed on ebay buying the polaris brand. then did more research and I went wth the new warn 2500. From what I have read on others experiences, warn is the better choice if you dont mind spending the extra money.

If you get the new warn that has the center drum, the polaris cut out panel wont fit. I made my own cutout with a dremel tool and if you take your time, it will be as perfect as the one you can buy for no cost.

Would not reccomend the polaris winch myself. Sounds rough, I mean just the way it runs. It is also a chinese winch. My 1st died after about 6 months. Dealer replaced it but still a pain.
Like they say "BIGGER IS BETTER" For the most part the 2500 will work fine but I have stalled mine both polaris & warn.

if you can find a warn 3.0, that would be my choice(as it was lol)and have had good luck w/ it and it will i beleave fit the precut out. the only thing i dont like about those cut outs is that you cant free spool by turning the switch. also a 3000 ,lb gorilla would fit as its the same bolt patten as the warn. for the little extra money between the 2500, and the 3000 i would hestitate to get the bigger one.

I would NOT try to get by with a cheap winch. On a $7000-$8000 machine, what is an extra $150 for a well known, well respected, & trusted winch. It is one thing if it just has to lift a plow, but another if it has to pull a 800 lb. machine out of the mudd. I have had Warn on all my quads & couldn't be happier. I have the 2500 lb. on my SP 700 & pulled an 800 out of the mudd without a problem. Go with the 3000 lb. if you can afford it, otherwise the 2500 lb. would work just fine.

whats the old saying, you can never have too much. this is very true in a winch poundage. the more the better for like he said these 800 + lb bikes. thats not inclucing the gear and the rider and the sucktion of the mud.
