Default Injection oil

my engine is 2 stroke with oil tank on front which feeds an injection system

everyone [incl the dealer] tells me I must use special oil that is $20 for a bottle that does just one fill of the tank [about a quart] and that gets used up in a few weeks even though I dont do many miles

but problem is I cant get that oil anymore [Motul 510] where I now live

Is there a problem using "normal" 2 stroke oil - I have to say I just inspected/cleaned the spark plug after 2 years and it was remarkably clean for a 2 stroke engine [compared to plugs on 2 stroke mowers I used many years back], so maybe the dealer is telling the truth rather than just taking my money

I run the amsoil interceptor 2 stroke synthetic in my
tb250 & 2years on a spark plug is no problem
I would stay with synthetic oil if it were me
about $7.00 / quart

Default Injection oil

so does it simply need to be synthetic, or also a particular brand?

2 friends of mine have a '00 explorer 400 and a '00 trailblazer 250, both with 2 stroke motors. they use regular old havoline 2 stroke oil in theirs. they've had no problems at all with them.

thanks for those replies that seem to confirm my hunch that I am being "fed a line" about I must only use this Motul oil

it's got to be about specs and not brand names

OK so Valvolene make one so any others??

my local petrol station [or gas in American] just changed from BP to Caltex and maybe neither mean anything to you guys

I will check out what oils they might have and get back to you as the level is getting low and I am not wanting just now to do the 100 kms journey back to Cairns just to spend $20 on oil [plus $40 for the petrol] if I can buy something locally
