Drive Clutch Problem

I have been having a problem with my 93 TB recently. I came up a steep hill and when I got to the top I was only able to do roughly 30km/h and it was reving very high at that speed. I am pretty sure the problem is the drive clutch is not closing up all the way. Could this be the problem? Also if it is the problem what do you use to pull the drive clutch off? Thanks

it could be the belt, or the secondary(driven) as well. you need a polaris clutch puller that goes in the center hole. when you take off the clutch cover you'll be able to tell more. watch how it works(shifts) to see if the clutch indeeds closes all the way and to see if the belt is sitting up all thew way in the driven clutch.

I took the cover off and I have seen that the drive clutch does not close all the way and I just put a new belt on just over 2 wks ago so that cannot be related to the problem. Any ideas on what I should try next to fix the problem?

does the belt sit about 1/8" above the driven(back) clutch when its at rest. your weights,pins, and rollers could be all worn out. if its been riden alot it could have some wear. you said the bike revs fine though right. it would be worth pulling the driven clutch off and checking the buttons as well and replacing then if there worn. if you take the center bolt off the drive clutch(5/8" i think) you can then take off the cover by removing the 6- 3/8 or 7/16" cant remeber which, and be able to check for excessive play and wear.if the rollers are worn out then you need a special spider tool to pull it apart at which you might as well give it to a dealer or a guy who has one to rebuild it for ya.

The belt does sit above the driven belt at idle im not sure if its as much as 1/8" though. I have checked out the driven clutch and its fine. I have the cover off the drive clutch but to be honest I am not to sure what I am looking for. Thanks for the help so far.

take out the allen screw and nut on the weights and remove one of the weights to see if theres a big groove in the pin and rock the weight side to side and there shouldnt be any movement. its hard to explain in typing lol. also take something and push up on the rollers to see if theres alot of movement up and down. these are what the weight rolls on and there shouldnt be any movement up and down if so there worn out.

Question on this. are the drive and driven pulley bolts standard thread (right tight left loose) or left handed thread( right loose left tight)?
