Default Outlaw 525 mileage

Hey, i was just wondering if anyone knew how the outlaw compared to other sportbikes in mileage. I was just looking at specs and saw it had at least a gallon of extra fuel capacity over anything else and thought if the mileage was similar this could be a big selling point for me since i am mostly a trail rider. Thanks

the mileage is comparable. The extra gallon of fuel is REALLY nice! also my reserve seems pretty extensive. I was the first one on resrve in the sandy trails of northern MI a few months ago and dropped to the back of the group babying the throttle to try to squeeze out the mileage. I made it another 17 miles to the gas station and all the guys who weren't on reserve when i first was were entirely empty (reserve included) by the time i got there. I had to buy a gas tank and go back to fuel them up one at a time. There was one other guy who had made it on a stock YFZ, but the other YFZs and the 450R's as well as the preds and OUtlaw 500 in the group were all out. Not to mention the 400 Sport and a KX500 dirt bike (we had 15 guys out there...) anyway, i guess long story short, i have been pretty happy with my mileage so far. If it's not quite enough IMS will be releasing a 5 gallon soon acording to them the last time i talked to them. They said the first ones are all going to Polaris, however, so i don't what's taking so long b/c that was 5 months ago and they're still not available... i'm betting '08 Pure Polaris will have them... hope this answers your question not much 525 attention on this site, but i try to answer all the questions when they come up. Good luck.

Yeah thats good info thanks! When you say IMS is putting out a 5 gallon thats a replacement tank? How difficult of a mod is that? Ever ridden with a Raptor? Thats the other atv im considering, but as a 700 with a gallon less, i think it would hurt the range I could ride.

The 525 will be getting attention im sure, there probably aren't alotta people riding them yet. When i saw it i figured next summer the scrambler needs a little brother in the garage

The IMS tanks are out and just have to drill two 1/4 inch hole in the side panels to hold it against the tank

Yeah I have been out and have not even had to hit the reserve when riding with others on trails! Not sure if that means I should be riding longer/more often (I Wish!) but so far I cannot complain after riding bikes for years I quit (family) now family is old enough to enjoy and I am trying to get the maintenance issues down so that I am not busting my azz in between riding Air filter wash adjust chain fix what got broke riding put new parts on so any suggestions to help this would be great!! I was thinking KN air filters and anyone have a fast way of cleaning a chain besides using a toothbrush?

Hope to see y'all next weekend!
