Default exhaust wrap

anybody here ever use exhaust wrap on their atv? I've used it before on my race cars with good results. it'll keep the heat in the exhaust for better flow and also my leg won't miss the heat. what's everybody's opinion on it?

Wrapping the exhaust (and headers by the way) will eventually rust the exhaust out.

when I wrap mine I'm gonna clean it off with a wire brush first and hit it with a few coats of high temp paint before I wrap it. I can't see how it'll rust out any faster than it would if it was exposed. the wrap actually will be a barrier for any moisture and any moisture that does get past it will be burned off by the heat. I wrapped some headers on my car and the wrap stayed on for 2 years before I took it off to put on some long tubes. they still looked the same as the day I wrapped 'em.

Take my advise and save your money and do the ceramic coating. I done the exhaust wrap from DEI with the exhaust HI Temp DEI coating and just washing my 700 twice I already had rust forming on the pipes. I also wire brushed and spray HI Temp paint on before applying the wrap. The reason I took the wrap off was because I didn't wrap my turbo and all the heat was staying in the pipe and when the heat made its way back to the turbo it was causing the turbo to get really hot. So I decided to take the wrap off and ceramic coat my pipes and turbo and thats when I found the rust.

I've been using the wrap, and I'm very pleased. The thought of promoting rust never occurred to me.

What does the ceramic coating look like on the pipe and where would you get it done?

I got mine done locally. You can go to http://www.jet-hot.com and see some pipes there.

not sure how well the ceramic coating will reduce the heat? the wrap has always been suspected in making pipes rust faster but its like opinions use it and save yourself a lot of down time sending that into jet hot!
