01 scrambler 500 carb problem
#1
The carb seems to be flooding itself out when the fuel is turned on to it and it warms up. The overflow continues to leak gas out unless the fuel is shut off. I pulled the carb and checked out the float and needle. Everything appears to be OK. I bent the tab for the float needle to see If I could get it to shut off quicker (or at all) when the bowl filled, but no luck. This happened to anyone else or is it a common problem? Any other ideas?
Also, anyone know a part number or where to get a starter rebuild kit for the same bike?
Thanks much,
Damien

The needle and seat are the most likely causes. Visual inspection will not aways reveal a problem where a pressure test will.
While you have it apart, check the float. Shake it and listen/feel for liquid sloshing around.
Also check the float pin and hinge for wear.
When you reassemble the carb make sure you re-set the float hieght correctly or you'll have other issues.

Replace the needle and seat, set the tab back where it was.
