TB tranny
#4
On acceleration from a stop or slow speed I hear a loud clunking from the tranny. I ruled out the sprockets. All teeth present and sharp. I figger it would be easier to drop in a used one than to break it down and hunt for the source.
Any ideas?

If your drive chain isnt jumping the sprocket the silent chain inside the tranny is stretched. Not hard to replace if you have a manual.
Takes more to pull it out than to fix the tranny.

you have to pull the tranny out of the frame to split the cases.

I have the tranny loose but it still has one connection I cant identify. Does the tranny attach to the swingarm pivot bolt on the left side? That is where the hangup seems to be. Also, I found metal shavings on the end of the magnetic drain plug bolt/spacer so I was relieved a little to know that I made the right choice in pulling the trans. However, metal shavings in the trans is NEVER good.

I dont pull the swingarm bolts to get them out.But you do have to remove one of the bolts that runs through the tranny.
The filings are normal.Once you get into it you will see how simple this thing is.
