Isnt that funny how all of a sudden Polaris isnt so nuts for having IRS in a sport quad introduce the all new Honda TRX700xx check it out @ www.honda.com. It does actually look pretty cool. They self proclaimed it king of the hill. I say BRING IT!!!!

 

I am really interested to hear opinions on this thing when it is out. It's not as close to being a "true" sport quad as the outlaw, but it is interesting.

 

Thats a weird *** looking setup of the rear with what looks like a center mounted sproket and tiny disc rear brake. Dont look to bad though overall, getting a little heavier than I would like. My outlaw with IRS is only 395 dry. The extra cc's over my 525 doesn't mean much right now considering I can take a stock raptor. We'll see when it's out for reviews.

Heavier than you would like? Huh? Thats 508 WET for the XX, with all fluids.....which makes it "cough" lighter than your 525.

I completely disagree. Do you really think that the gas and oil weight over 100lbs?

Gas is lighter than water.. i think 6lbs/gallon-- if it holds 4 gallons (which may or may not be true-- most sport bikes hold &lt;3), then thats 24lbs--- 3qts of oil ~ 5lbs, but def less than 10-- so 35lbs is a VERY conservative estimate-- which puts the outlaw in the 430lbs range-- much less than the 508 claimed wet weight of the trx700.

i'm not looking for the outlaw to beat the raptor or trx700 in a magazine article-- i don't usually see Polaris getting any good reviews in a mag-- but we'll have to read into the article.

 

Duffus....thanks for the catch. Typo on the 508 wet....I was told by a bud it's gonna be 408. Honda must have put lead in the frame or something.

I remember when the Outlaw first came out. Got some good reviews and bad ones. Then it seems like the next month, the magazines changed their opinion from the month before.

If the ride (any brand) makes you happy, that's all that counts.

 

k -- yeah 408 sounds much more reasonable-- which puts the outlaw maybe a touch heavier depending on how big the fuel tank is.

as with the outlaw was with the belt drive transmission over 10 years ago when sportsman came out-- the mags and other manufacturers dissed the setup saying the rubber band would "break." Too bad Polaris didn't put a patent on the belt drive.... sealed everyone else out.

 

508 wet is what the Honda website says.
