I just got a used 86 Polaris avt 4x2. The guy I got it from said that he just had the carb rebuilt and less than 10 hrs on it. He did tell me it was hard to start, but once you got it started then it will run all day.

I can get it to start if i prime it threw the air filter and it will rev up with the throttle. When I let off the throttle so that it can just idol, it dies or when I try to stick it in gear it dies.. Anyone have any ideas. Please let me know

ANd there is no key do you know if i need one for it to run right?

 

you should have an idle screw on the carb. try turning it to raise the idle some

 

a kill switch is all you need as long as its letting power thru. when you say prime it do you mean pour gas in it or close off the end to the carb? the enrichner isnt working i take it. personally i would take the carb back off to make sure it was clean and right, where its hard to start and wont stay idling. then you know for sure. then come back with more questions and we can help ya.
