How to replace lug nut/ hub studs
#1
Guys,
When I tried putting my 800 Deluxe rims on my 500 HO, I found that the studs for the lug nuts were not long enough. The service manual says nothing about changing these, other than they are a press fit. And that brings me to my question?
Is there a safe way for the Do-It-Yourselfer to get the old studs out and new ones pressed in sufficiently?
Or should I just remove the hubs and have the dealer to the job?
TIA!!!

Not only are the non-deluxe studs shorter, but they are also a differant thread pitch. Make sure you get the deluxe studs!!!. If you can get the hubs off, you are more than capable of changing the studs. Pull the hubs and hammer the old ones out and the new ones in. Very simple. If you have a brass punch that will prevent damage if you ever want to reuse the old ones.

the differnt pitch threads must be on the newer models above 06' as they were they same on the 800 and the 450. all you need to do is order the 800 studs or any model w/ the alum. rims and they will be long enoguh. like scram said there pretty easy to take out. you will need to remove your brake caliper if i remeber right.

Ya pull the caliper off and the big hub nut, and maybe a little tap and the hub will slide right off. And the 07 Aluminum wheel studs are differant pitch than the 06 steel wheel studs from what I remember
