What to replace/whats wrong?
#1
Hi everybody, my father has a 2004.5 700efi, and i notice while driving around the awd engages when it isn't suppose too. what could be wrong/ what needs to be replaced? This problem is really annoying, because everytime we spin the rear tires 4 seconds later the fronts kick in.... any ideas?

Chalk up another '05 700EFI. Mine did the same thing. It also would STAY in AWD for a LONG time after I switched back to 2WD. You know how there is a warning label on the quad telling you NOT to engage AWD if the rear wheels are spinning?? Well, mine would do that on it's own! I might be playing in the snow....doing a donut in the snow or something, and BANG!!! the AWD would engage, and I'd pretty much go right off the back of the thing! I sold it and just got a brand new '07 700EFI. It has shown none of these problems so far. (knock on wood).

04 part number is 3233949
05 part number is 3234167
Now these PN#'s will most likely change over to the same part number for the new style rollar cage. It is designed to be alot stronger and should do the trick. I'm not there to see your machines but I have replaced several with the same complaint and this has fixed it. I think they run about $230 give or take a few dollars. If you are having an awd issue, don't wait around, go ahead and get it fixed. It could cause damage to other componets like the propshaft or front housing if not repaired. It would not hurt to replace the armature plate while you are in there as well. It is not a have to and they are a bit spendy for what they are but they are critical for the awd to work properly. PN 3234160 for the 04, PN 3234101 for the 05. Again, these 2 numbers will most likely sub over to a new number. Talk to your dealer and they can help you more with the numbers than I can. The armature plate is about $70 dollars or so. As long as you have smooth and pretty even wear on the contact point then it will most likey be ok. The plate is a kinda brownish black color and it will be a bare metal look where it makes contact with the coil. Hope this helps
