Mud Hog, you were correct, it isn't much quieter that the duals. In fact, I think that the noise level in general is the same, just a different sound to it.

I'll end up taking the silencer off the 500 and put it on the 800. I'm going to send it out for ceramic coating first. That will be the last thing I do to quiet it down.

My X2 800 came with single exhaust and it is not very quiet. I guess it is an 800. But my Goldwing has duals, and is twice the engine and is much quieter.

Too bad Polaris doesn't offer a "quiet" muffler as a factory option. I'm sure they would sell.

Hey Sheepdog, I am surprised a "hunting" muffler isn't available from Polaris either. The bigger bikes are becoming more popular and it woudl be nice to see an option like that for the folks who don't want the noise. I guess as far as big bikes go, they are all pretty noisy. I think the duals look cooler thant the single but don't think they offer much in the way of usable performance.
