The Spider Trecks were originally made by Dick Cepek (SP) way way back. I can remember drooling over them for my fathers new 84 Trimoto 200ER. I believe that they were one of the first "non knobby" tires available for non sand purposes and the basic cheveron.

ITP bought the mould and use the Blackwater "rubber" that make them more reliable. From a review in a Canadian ATV magazine the Claws fair better and are generally a better price.

Hmmm, that’s interesting. Thanks Loyal. Without ever having tried the Spider Tracs, it looks to me like they wouldn’t steer quite as easily as the Bear Claws. The Claws have that lug in the center that’s missing from the STs and that center lug or “pad” seems to make a difference. And you’re right about the price, the Claws are cheaper.

The Bear Claws we have on the one SP right now have been on three machines and my guess is they’ve seen close to 5000 miles. Riding in the same terrain that put 7 punctures in the stock Dunlops on a 425 Mag, the Claws have never once suffered a puncture. (those Dunlops were the worst set of ATV tires we’ve ever owned) For an aggressive tire that’s good in everything from mud to rocks to hardpack, the Claws are lightweight for a 4 ply tire so they don’t rob lots of power, they steer easy and they are affordable. If I have anything to complain about these tires it’s that the rubber compound could be harder/tougher for longer wear but that would no doubt be reflected in the price. The definitive test of product satisfaction is “would you buy it again?” I give the Kenda Bear Claws two thumbs up.
