I have 5 4wheeers and lots of kid's who like to ride all the time. 3 of the 4 wheelers are 2stroke polaris's which I got from 3 different dealers (long story) 1 dealer says you have to rejet for winter or it will seeze when temps reach 30 or lower. Just bought a new explore 4x4 today and that dealer say's that is a bunch of bull and that polaris is jetted to rich anyway and I do not have to rejet. Plug does look ok after checking it even when it was 0 deg. Any one have problems with running to lean in the cold? on a trail blazer, 250 explore 4x4 and polaris 90cc kids 4 wheeler.

Thanks realoldguy

the dealer was right atvs are jetted rich from the factory and you shouldnt have any problems in the winter, but remember when sumer rolls around you might want to lean out the carb 1 size to make shure your geting full power out of your quad.

One more thing that needs to be done on your two strokes for the winter is get cooler plugs. The plugs your running right now are to hot for the winter, go a step up, for example if your running a b8es go to a b9es.
Why you need to do this is when the plug gets to hot it wont spark right and your machine will shut down not because you blown a plug but cuz it got to hot.

In Michagan at our altitude,my quad comes from the factory with a 210 main jet. That is for temperatures between 40-80 degrees.

My manual says to rejet to a 230 main jet in temperatures from 0-40 degrees.Since its winter here and this is where the temperatures usually range,I rejeted to the 230 main jet,now comes spring time and the weather warms up,I'll rejet back down to the 210 main jet,

Hey guys~
I would definitely rejet every 2 stroke quad that you own! Just last wednesday I was riding my scrambler when it was about 25 degrees. I never rejetted the engine before it got cold so I never went over 3/4 throttle because I knew it was probably running lean. Well, I went to start it again and the electric start just clicked. The pull rope wouldn't budge. I still haven't tore it down, but I am thinking the engine seized on me. From now on, I know I will definitely rejet every 2 stroke for the winter. It isn't really that hard to do and you do not have to worry about losing an engine!
