Default Plugged Air Filter

Would a plugged air filter cause you to burn or consume more oil? Went out this weekend it was real dusty & two of us had RZR's & they started using oil. Mine had over 800 miles the other had over 200 miles. We both have the airbox up-grade on them but they still sucked in a ton of dirt. I would post in the RZR section but I don't want to wait a week for a reply.Thanks.

I've never heard of oil consumption being related to a clean or dirty air filter.

Oil will be burned by your engine only if it's getting into the combustion chamber. It can only get in there if going past the rings or through the valve guides.

On the other hand, oil can be lost by going out the breather tube and into the airbox, but there would be evidence of this in the airbox.

Others will chime in for sure.

If the motor got to hot it can burn the oil up internally ,
