hey guys,
maybe im being a little ****. I guess because my rig only has 7 hours on it butt..
imhaving some noise issues. first, my tranny makes a little clunk when i give it gas out of the hole. ive done some research on this and from what i can get out of it, its lash in the transaxle.
2nd on the right hand side of my motor i hear a faint knock/tick when given gas. (around 2000 rpmz) what do u suppose that is? its not bad, but its there. im wondering if itll get worse. does anyone know what that is im hearing?
i dont want to take it to a dealer because hunting season is just around the corner, and i dont particularly want some young hardheads they got thr wrenching on my bike.
itjust ticks me off! the bikes brand new!!!
other than that i love it! the motor makes great power and rides like a caddy!
all replies appreciated

The only thing I don't like about either of my Sportsmans are the racket the engines make. They've both done them since new. The 500 has over 120 hours on it without a single problem, just the noise. My 800 only has 16 hours on it, no problems other than the noise. Some have said it's the oil pump, that they're all noisy, but I'm not convinced in that regard.
The noise on my 800 is coming from the right side of the engine near the crankshaft area the best that I can tell. I swear the noise wasn't there in the first few hours. The twin is such a smooth running/sounding machine, too bad it has the racket to interfere with it.

Its the oil pump, put a wooden broom stick handle from your ear to the pump and you will really hear the ticking.

the nosies are normal-- the clunking in the transmission is inherent of all polaris machiens.. it could be because polaris uses much larger gears than their competitors. If you ever have to take apart your transmission (you shouldn't, the gears look like ones from a small tractor. This means infinite life of the gears, but some noise.

Don't worry the noises are normal, I don't know what causes it but it is common with polaris. I felt the same way you do when I first got mine so I went back to the dealer and had him start them all and they all make noise. I then started paying attention at different rides and all Polaris make the noise, some louder than others. Caper or Stendori can tell you why mechanically but the best advice is just get use to it
