Okay guys, in this video in the last three seconds, you can hear very clearly the tapping/clanking sound from the engine. This is exactly what mine sounds like. As I said, I swear it didn't sound like this when new. I posted a comment on the video and hope the guy answers it.
Please take a listen to it and see if you guys with 800s have engines that make this same noise.
TIA!!!

Sorry guys, forgot to mention that the video is not of my bike, just one I came across on Youtube. I found a couple other videos also that I could hear the same noise on. I'll take a video tomorrow and post it, so you guys can be sure of what you're hearing. I'll do it from the left (quiet) side, the front, and the right (loud) side all in one clip.
Thanks for the input guys.
BTW, I just changed the oil (15.9 hours/ 161 miles). I'm using the Purolator PL14610 filter and Amsoil FFS 0W-40 oil. The oil that came out was clean and there was no metal or other foreign material on the drain plug, although the plug did not appear to be magnetic. The noise was present before I changed the oil and did not quiet down with the new oil, that's not to say that I expected it to.

My new '07 800 has a faint clanking/tapping sound coming from the right side. Sometimes it's more noticable than others. I only hear it when I'm idling and then give it a little throttle. I first noticed it when I was taking it for a test ride at the dealer's. I pointed it out to my salesman, who had said he is a "Polaris man", and he heard it and said it was normal in Polaris'.

I know that as your primary clutch starts to wear there some plastic button slides start to wear an get a gap between the alum an them you will hear that kind of noise a clicking sound. You can tha the cover off an check it out. It is where the clutch slides up an down. Might be something to look at.
