Default 98 explorer starter not working

I am needing to replace my electric starter on my 98 explorer. I was told that I have to take the left side cover off and remove the clutches, to get to two bolts and I need a special puller. Can I buy this puller or can I build it? What does it look like? I also have to take the right side cover off to get to the other two bolts.
Anyother surprises that I need to look for?
thanks

thats pretty much it. i took the starter off without taking the clutches off. its a real pain but can be done because of where those two bolts on the clutch side are. taking the rotor cover off isnt much of anything. have you thought about just rebuilding your starter? much cheaper and doesnt take hardly anything to do. just replace the brushes bearings bushing and an o-ring

you can buy a rebuild kit on ebay for about 20 bucks..theres not really any need for directions. as long as you pay attention to what your doin when you take the starter apart, just put everything in the same way it came out. here is a link to one that will work http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...?hash=item320171737600
