electric trouble?

Default electric trouble?

i have a 94 sportsman 400 i got it about a year ago runs good but now its over charging at idle it puts out 12.5 volts but when u rev it up it puts out 24 volts took stator out had it ckecked its good replaced voltege regulator now its just putinng out 12.volts any suggestions batteryis no good cause it cooked it when it was overcharging thanks in advance also have 88 trail boss 250 with 3100 miles no major repairs still runs good

so the rectifier fixed the over charging right? so whats the question your asking. yes the over charging will take out battery, light bulbs and other elec. as well.

now its only putting out 12 volts ?the ? the voltage reg. i replaced was used was told it was good no way of checking it out.i know 12 volts isnt enough to keep battery charged took all wiring off terminal block checked and rechecked all looks good at my wits endnow i went out to the barn and checked and now im getting no volts i have no battery in now im going to chang vlotage reg. and see if i get voltage is it true thatyou shoundnt jump start it with a battery charger hooked up ?ps im not good on these comp. but if you could caal me i would appreiate it 1-585-370-6005 bob thank you
