2000 sp 500 shift problem

so even when you shut it off or rocked it it was still stuck in? did you check linkage for any problmes? if its not linkage chances are in the shifting fork may be bent. just a thought.

munns, my 700 got stuck in high after a friend rode it, it wasn't the linkage, it was the gear box, ground up gear, first if your ride is idling fast will not want to shift through H L N R P well. if it is a simular problem to mine, it is a fairly easy fix, $12 part, couple of hours (a little trial and error) taking apart and putting back togather the gear box. the box i'm speaking of has a black cover at the end of the linkage, if you still can't get it to shift, i would take this box apart and look at the gears. go to the polaris web site and look at a diagram of the box, it will give you an idea of what you'll find. go luck bro.
