Ok this is getting more intresting all the time LOL, it does read 25 ohms and connecting the wire from the hub coil to the harness from the AWD switch it has magnetism, only possible explatation I can think of and to try next is to disasemble and clean the hub clutch, maybe to much gunk in it?

Hey 350 thanks for the reply, it does have some magnetism when voltage is apllied, not strong enough to hold say a small screwdriver but it's there, hmm

All it does is create drag on the armature plate that slows the outside of the clutch. While that slows down the speed of the axle that is splined to the inner part of the clutch turns faster than the outside causing the rollers to engage in the hub and the hubs lock in and you have AWD.

Put the armature plate on it and apply the voltage. Can you pull it straight away from the magnet? Should take a little force to remove. Also is the face of the coil ground up or damaged? Is the armature plate warped? If your bearing was destroyed and the rest is ok, you may have had to much play in the hub. The plate needs to be flat against the coil, a little off and it won't have enough resistance to stop the clutch from turning.

Thanks again Harley, i'll let ya know what happens when I get the new bearings in and get it all adjusted which should be early next week. And yes plate is fine and it does take a little more effort to pull it away, I think I dodged a bullet on this one. One lesson learned if the manual says check it at a certian time, well thats whats gonna happen. Gotta get my stuff ready for Dear hunting. If only there was no such thing as time.
