coolant additive

It seems to me that there is NO consistency of what products people are
using with same results. I hope this thread can shed some light in that
area. I would like to use some product too! Winter is approaching going
to the mountains the end of this week, I know my new 800 will be really
HOT from all the riding.
Stendori, how hard is it to install a temp guage?

It's pretty easy. I bought my own gauge and drilled and tapped my own thermostat housing. Quadovater sells it as a kit with the t-stat already drilled and tapped for a small fee. Then run a wire from the t-stat to where you are going to mount your gauge, supply keyed power and ground to the gauge. The hardest part was drilling and tapping the t-stat housing, but with a good set of drills and taps and a drill press and a steady hand it's not too bad. If you buy your own gauge make sure you get an electric gauge. A mechanical gauge will not fit in the t-stat housing.
I can't get a link to work but go to www.autometer.com and it's part number #2355
Thats the gauge I ordered and it's the same as the quadivator gauge but cheaper.

I can't seem to find a good link to the Quadovater kit. Can anyone help me out?? I want to put a water temp gauge in my 08' Sportsman 800 as well as an Oil Pressure gauge. Any help will be greatly apreciated. I plan to use Auto Meter Phantom 2-1/8" gauges.

I guess I will be odd man out on this one...........sort of. I have used water wetter in my race cars. And it does help........some. 5 or 7 degrees or so on the guage. This is on an engine with a restrictor washer and not a thermastat.
Now; things like this are used to solve problems. Why do you need it in a quad? If you have your engine hopped up and are putting out 50% more HP with the same size radiator; then sure, you need to do everything you can to keep it cool.
Who cares on how much the fan runs on your quad? It's put on the quad to keep the engine cool. That's it's job!!!! Let it do it's job!!!
Now; if your over ridding the T-stat and your engine is boiling the coolant and it is stock then you have a problem that even Water Wetter can't solve. You need to clean the radiator, fix the water pump or whatever to get it not to over heat. Most engine cooling systems are built with a 25 to 50% safety margin in mind. If your over ridding the T-stat then you have to solve the problem and not put a bandaid on it.
