I put a horn on my 03 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO under the front hood. Wired it up to a toggle switch on my headlight pod. Works great. The horn is called a Mini Boat Horn out Cabela's. Works fine for getting the attention of other riders.

How loud are these 12v horns? I am just thinking as we are riding in front or side by
side these 700's and 800's are pretty loud. And with having the helmet on and such
will these made for ATV horns really do justice? Or is it better to rig up a car horn
(mazda as the top post above) or Azlobo's mini boat horn idea?

And for the record the mirrors are great for made/clear trails, I am happy with my
additions, a little safer and doesn't look tacky at all!

Horn from Advanced Auto. $13 +/_ It's LOUD. And it's been under water a lot. The air pocket helps.

In my Idaho county, you can get a street license for your ATV if it has the following:

1) Horn
2) Turn signals (arm signals are considered adequate)
3) Mirror

So there's another reason to have a horn - you can ride your ATV to the office!

 

In Arizona: To Be Street Legal

1) Horn
2) Review Mirror
3) Light Over License Plate
4) Proof of Insurance
5) Current Tag on License Plate ( Just Like An Automobile )
