Horn on Sportsman?
#31
I resurrected this thread cuz I went out last week to FINALLY add on my horn before
my weekend ride and when I started looking the HORN over, I just see the Negative (-)
and Positive (+) connectors and I don't see a place for separate connector for the wiring
of the switch? I suspect that I run my wires off the HORN to the respective battery (+ and -)
terminals. I have a fuse box to add in between for shorts etc. But where would I run the
wire for my switch to activate it (HONK. HONK) -- LOL? Unless the default in the Horn wiring is
to off and the switch will be in-between and when it detects the cross then it BLOWS??
Suggestions?

JUSt get one of these, then you won't have to worry about wiring it up.

You need to put the switch in-line in either the negative or the positive wire...If you hook both wires up to the battery with no switch to break the circuit the horn will blow constantly. I would use the positive wire to put the switch in-line and run the ground to the frame close to the mounting location.

Should run Batt + / fuse / switch / horn + / horn - to com i.e. frame.
Some horns are grounded through the horn frame so is only 1 terminal on the horn.
It is always good practice to add the fuse just in case the + wire gets worn through , horn shorts, wire comes loose etc.
