Horn on Sportsman?
#43
Wow! A triple post!
Looks good R. You can ground it anywhere there's already a bolt. Or it may ground directly to the frame when you bolt it on, and not even need a ground wire. It depends on the model of the horn. If so then you only need a wire from the battery Positive - Switch - Horn.

I have horns from o'reilly, I put it in my headligfht pod on the 700, hooked the hot wire to the acc. plug wires, used a one way toggle switch, it does work to get peoples attn, they can hear it over the engines. In Wyo you need, horn ,lights, taillights, mirror, insurance and a license plate to ride on the roads.

Wasn't Moose the other one? If it's the heaviest riders doing it, then it must be my turn next.

JF et al,
Sorry about the triple posts. Actually I was farting
around last night trying to get the "img" link stuff
to work correctly, when I added a new reply I couldn't
delete it. So I just edited with the same text.
Ha Ha ole R' fooled yas...LOL..LOL
Okay cool, I think I have a good understanding
about how to rig this thing up. What I didn't illustrate
(dummy me) was the "FUSE" part. I will follow Upnort's
and you all's good instruction on the component process
of wiring. I thought I would have a nice Shiny SUNNY day
today to work on this but weather today is not in my favor.
Ohh well, when I get to (this weekend or next) I will post up
some pics or still video with sound to you all!
Cheers and thanks for all the great help!

I too was thinking about adding a horn 'cause alot of the lake resorts we ride around require it to warn pedestrians. I can't seem to find a decent looking , durable button though. Any suggestions?? Thanks

Can anyone give me a diagram (rough and handwritten) or link that shows how to install a horn on their Sportsman? I already have the horn and "kill switch" button for it, I just need to know how to access the wiring harness under the headlight pod and which wires to splice and connect. Im not even sure how to get the pod cover off to get to the wires! LOL Thanks so much!
